The River of Life is a mural placemaking project that honors and celebrates African American trailblazers from the Beatties Ford Road Corridor, Charlotte, NC. The mural was painted by local artist, Abel Jackson, on the wall of the West End Fresh Seafood Market; a small, Black-owned business on Beatties Ford Road.

The mural will serve as the foundation for an educational and engagement tool through
the use of Augmented Reality. We envision the mural "talking" to pedestrians with the use of
their own cell phones, sharing the trailblazers' stories, and building civic pride in this area.
